With the rapid development of today’s society and economy, the use of thewire rope is more and more widely, such as the various cranes, mine hoists, elevators and other equipment. Therefore, the pros and cons of the wire ropequality and performance are closely related to people’s lives and property safety. In order to prevent the security incidents due to the failure of the wire rope, inaddition to if the controlling design and manufacturing quality are reasonable. There is no uniform testing standards in the industry for impact fatigue testingof wire rope, the good inspection in mechanical properties of wire rope is alsoan important and indispensable step. In this paper its main work is for themechanical properties of the wire rope, and proposed wire rope testing systemdesign. This paper analyzes the structure of the conventional wire rope test benchdesign features: they are either applied load is small, simulate realisticconditions, or the structure is too complex, cannot real-time detection. Inresponse to these shortcomings, this paper presents wire rope testing systemdesign: the test bench takes advantage of the pendulum rotation to producecontinuous impact, double drum linkage. What’s more it uses PLC controlledreel motor to applied load. Then this paper details the test rig design choice, thedesign of the test rig, the acquisition of test signal, the specific of PLC controlprograms and etc. This paper completed the overall structural design of the testrig and uses the application of dynamic simulation software ADAMS tosimulate variety of simulation which gave the expected results. The results of this research can promote the development and improvementof the wire rope inspection and testing equipment, and do a contribution to theactual reference value of the development of wire rope inspection equipment.
