At present, the whole world is faced with the rapid globalization, along withmodern society’s development, people challenge to cultural identity is more and moreintense. Since the beginning of the21st century, China shows the infinite future ofurban development, along with the development, the development of the city is noexception, with the rapid development of unlimited opportunities to the city alsobrought to the city a more serious problem of city, Such as the destruction of the cityenvironment, resources shortage etc The cost of rapid economic development is thedamage to the environment, we are faced with new problems that the cities can besustainable. We must recognize that these ecological and environmental destruction is notinevitable, what we lack is the informed planning and decision making of the city, especially the absence of the School of Landscape Architecture which takes theintegrated land design as the core. Therefore, to meet these unprecedented challenges, the School of Landscape Architecture should play what a role? These largebackground prompts us to re-think.Thinking about the landscape, the designer could not help but think of the garden,The relationship between landscape and garden since ancient times is the complementeach other, we think, landscape the essence and the basic content and the core isconsistent with garden, gardens are in front, the landscape is later. Chinese classicalgardens originated in their houses of fruit and vegetable gardens, but in the West, thelandscape designer comes mainly from farmers and ranchers, we can say: theproduction is the earliest features of the landscape. The modern landscape is facingchallenges and opportunities of globalization and urbanization, global climate change, lack of land as well as severe ecological problems make the modern landscape have to go back to the land and local, back to humanity and citizenship, return to the originalmeaning of land-production.Based on these reasons, this paper chooses sustainable productive landscape asthe object of study, through the interpretation of sustainable productive landscape, wecan further understand the landscape and its features. Back to the historical practice ofsustainable productive landscape, we can clearly know whether it is in China or theWest, the sustainable productive landscape has a considerable development in theurban open space. To solve this problem, I raised the subject of building sustainable productivelandscape in urban open space, to build a sustainable and productive landscape inurban open space is not to blindly retro, take the form of a traditional productionlandscape and handle the Western landscape, but to construct the landscape of ourtimes-it is modern, China’s and sustainable.Because a variety of reasons, the modern urban landscape still faces a variety ofproblems. This paper elaborates and analyzes the problems faced by the urbanlandscape. I consider that the current urban landscape has problems in the followingfour aspects:"Occidentalism" handling, fine gardens misunderstanding, landscapingfeatures, too much emphasis on beautifying and the problems that exist in thesustainable production landscape. By analyzing the driving force (external drivingforce through the move to sustainable and productive landscapes, the basic intrinsicimpetus and deep inner impetus), value and research of the sustainable productionlandscape in line with urban development in China’s main tone, this paperdemonstrates the feasibility of developing the production landscape in the process oftoday’s society. On the basis of previous research and analysis, this paper puts forward the dutyfor city management and landscape designers to build a sustainable and productive landscape in the urban open space: making efforts to enhance the cultural identity ofurban regional cities. This paper also proposes three principles that landscapedesigners should adhere in the construction of sustainable productive landscape:respecting for nature, respecting for human and putting local production experienceinto the urban landscape design. This paper proposes the management strategy to begrasped for the management: the establishment of mechanisms of public participation,to change a single perspective and to develop a social norms system. Finally, thispaper explores the specific ways on the specific case of the farmland on the Park-Chicago North Grant Park Design, and this paper concludes some method ofrevelation: respecting for the spirit of "place", getting more sustainable harvest withthe least investment, going to the mass and so on.
