Being the last form in Chinese verse history, Sanqu had take the place of Songci during the time when the Mongolian ruled China. My goal in this thesis is to reveal the characteristic of Sanqu through a comparative research between Sanqu and Songci under the same tune name. And these comparative research including three aspects:Sentence Structure、Sound effect、NarrativeIn Chapter one, I analyze the tunes with the same names that both used in Songci and Sanqu mostly based on the research results of many senior scholars. Then I discover a fact that only a few tunes never change the rhythm, most tunes although they have the same name but the rhythm has been totally different. In Chapter two, I give examples to argue the differences of Songci and Sanqu in sentence structure, because all kinds of literary expression need words to express their main idea, so the compound mode of words is the exteriorization of the inner spirit. In Chapter three, I compare them through how they sound differently. Commonly we say Chinese language has four tones, that begins in Yuan dynasty, before that we have five or more tones in our language, and this change in phonetics also transform the way they rhyme. Besides writers would like to use many slang in their Sanqu, which never happened to any other kind of verse style. This may as well makes Sanqu and Songci sounded so different. These differences in sound effect also influence the artistryIn Chapter four, I campare them by their feature in narrative. The question is why Sanqu more narrate than Songci? To the poet in Yuan Sanqu is a kind of living method, rather than something that show the inner world. So the motivation of writing these poems is rather different that in Song, that makes Sanqu more narrate than Songci do.
