Mu History Viewpoint Of Education Thought

Qian Mu (1895-1990), who was also called Bin Si, was born at Wu xi, Jiangsu Province.He was the famous historian, thinker and educator in modern china. Qian Mu began teachingwhen he was only eighteen years old and he taught from primary school to university. He hasfounded the New Asia College, he worked very hard and dedicated all his life to education.Being the famous historian, Qian Mu imparted knowledge and educated people, what’s more, hewrote books and set up theories, he was the one who had rich and unique historical teachingthoughts.Based on the results of previous studies, using the method of combing history and theory,this thesis aims to get a comprehensive and systemic research on Qian’s historical teachingthoughts. The first part described Qian Mu conscious awareness of history education to promoteand profound historian ideological and theoretical foundation, which are the influential factors inthe forming of his historical teaching thoughts. The second part of the thesis mainly tells thecontents of Qian Mu’s teaching thoughts from three aspects, which are the combination oflearning and behaving, the importance of complete learning than being an expert and thereaching of complete cultivation in learning and working. In the education of patriotism, whatdisplay Qian Mu’s unique historical teaching is the education of national history and theeducation of history and geography. These show his dedication to the cultivation on nationalspirit. During the whole life of Qian Mu, he took the propagating of national culture as his ownresponsibility, and his view on historical cultural education tells the features of his historicalteaching thoughts very well. He has completely showed the Traditional Chinese spirit throughthe contrast of china and western countries. The final part of this thesis gives a remark on thesocial influence of Qian Mu’s historical teaching thoughts at that time and the enlightenment inmodern society. He valued the education on national history and has improved the nationalidentity of the people. Also, he was decided in carrying forward traditional Chinese culture andhad great influence both at home and abroad. What’s more, Qian Mu paid great attention to thewide-knowledge education and focused on the explanation of humane education and traditionalculture spirit, the unique understanding on cultural inheritage and innovation of Qian Mu is theexhausted wealth for us descendants.
