Mainland Tv Talk Show Host Euphemism Research

This paper is mainly on the euphemisms which are used by the host of the TV show ofChinese mainland. Euphemism is a kind of language or word phenomenon that is often used inpeople’s daily life. As the advanced users of oral language, TV talk show hosts often useeuphemism, so it is worth studying. Based on the data collected, this paper systematicallyanalysis the euphemisms used by the TV talk show host on these aspects: terms of formationdevices, classification, tactful mechanism, the forming reason and function and so on. Wish it ishelpful to the TV talk show hosts of Chinese mainland.The article is divided into six parts. The first chapter is the introduction. It mainlyintroduces the research significance, the research object and the present research situation of theeuphemism of TV talk show hosts. The main body includes four parts. Based on the others’research of the terms of formation devices of euphemism, the second chapter mainly analysis theterms of formation devices of the euphemism of TV talk show hosts, including the semanticmeans and grammar means. The third chapter is on the classification of TV talk show hosteuphemism, respectively from the scope of euphemism, refers to the object and terms offormation devices of euphemism. The fourth chapter discusses the three characteristics andtactful mechanism of the euphemism used by television interview programs hosts. The tactfulmechanism includes distance mechanism, the related mechanism and polite mechanism. Thefifth chapter mainly analyzes the causes of euphemism from cultural view and the function ofeuphemism. The last part is the conclusion which overall the full text and the innovative points.
