Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the21st Century from American are advanced learning standards. It has reference value and enlightening effects to the teaching, evaluation, standard construction and specific teaching of teaching Chinese as a Second Language. This thesis does research on the advantages of Standards for foreign language learning in the21st century and its core structure "5C"goals.the thesis also talked about the current situation and shortcomings of the vocabulary teaching of teaching Chinese as a Second Language. The writer proposes a new teaching mode of words’centralized teaching based on "5C" goals in the middle stage of teaching Chinese as a Second Language and hopes to make some contribution to the reform of teaching Chinese as a Second Language in our country.The amount of vocabulary decides the level of learners’effective communication. The bottleneck of the vocabulary teaching in the middle stage of teaching Chinese as a Second Language is enlarging the vocabulary. To promote the vocabulary teaching and enlarge learners’ vocabulary, the writer proposes to abandon "explaining words at random"and gives out a new teaching mode of words’centralized teaching based on "5C" goals. The content of the new mode is the word network which combines a group of words that have relationship with each other. The methods to divide words into several word networks include dividing according to semantic field, schema theory and so on.Centralized teaching is the teaching pattern of this new mode. Teaching method and procedure are lead by "5C" goals.This thesis has five parts. The first part is about current situation and shortcomings of the vocabulary teaching of teaching Chinese as a Second Language. The second part introduces the contents of Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the21st Century and analyses its scientific feature. The third part defines the word network and dividing methods. The fourth part gives out the exact procedure and theoretical basis of the new teaching mode of words’ centralized teaching based on "5C" goals. In the fifth part, the thesis demonstrates the teaching design attaching to the new mode.
