Kei Ping Ho plays an important role in the history of contemporaryChinese drama. The character and personality of her plays, derived fromthe writing experience from Beijing to Hong Kong. The culturalatmosphere of1980s and the artistic tradition of the Beijing People’s ArtTheatre co-cultured her cultural sensitivity and the pursuit of the aestheticof realism. All these has formed the basic style of her plays which wrotein Beijing. After she moved to Hong Kong, with a broad perspective, Hotried to find a different way to convey the theme of cultural fusion.Meanwhile, under the influence of film and television and the Hong Kongentertainment tradition, Ho adjusts the narrative strategies according tolocal conditions. Because of her deep feeling of Chinese traditionalculture, Ho is a special playwright with special words in Hong Kong. Shealso learns from the Hong Kong’s culture to improve her writing skillsand the ideological connotations of her plays. Kei Ping Ho has madegreat achievements both in the Mainland and Hong Kong, which providesan important inspiration for people who have the same cross-cultureexperience as her.
