The 9th Panchen Mainland Activity And The Stage Study

Ban Chan Lama of the9th generation stayed totally14years in Mainland China since his running away from Tibet in December1923to his death on the way of returning Tibet in December1937. Ban Chan Lama of the9th generation had done very well in Mainland China as a famous politician and a great religious leader. As a glowing patriot and peace advocate, he upheld the central government and opposed the aggressions of Japanese army. He worked very hard to educate people and organize religious programs to support Anti-Japanese actions and make knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism widely available. The activities of Ban Chan Lama of the9th generation should be divided into different stages. This paper presented the study of the activities of Ban Chan Lama of the9th generation in Mainland China. At the same time, the author tried to divide the activities of Ban Chan Lama of the9th generation into three stages according to the main activity of "Returning Tibet", the first stage was from December1923to March1930, the second stage was from April1930to February1935and the third stage was from March1935to December1937. Ban Chan Lama of the9th generation and his group had been trying seriously of the action of "Returning Tibet" when they stayed in the Mainland China. Their activities as well as psychologies have been focused on that main purpose. For the reason of the interventions of England and the misdeal of the Nationality Government of China, combined with some mistakes from his own group, Ban Chan Lama of the9th generation failed to return Tibet when he was alive. He died on the way of returning Tibet in December1937.
