Research On Loanwords In German

Language is the most important communication tool. With the development of society, language is also developed and changed accordingly. One method to get new words is to borrow foreign language words. This paper analyzes the origin of the foreign words in German. Until the modern society the main origins are Greek, Latin, French. But in the modern society the foreign words mainly come from English. With the development of German, many foreign words became the basic vocabulary. One language is closer to the other language, and the language tends to borrow therefrom. The closer their geographical relations, the more contacts and exchanges, more likely to borrow foreign language words. The words from more advanced and developed language tend to be borrowed. From the analysis of German loanwords, we can reach the conclusion that the loanwords in German are gradually in line with the Germanlanguage and cognitive habits of German.
