| Many archeological excavations are carried out in China since late1920’s,as a result, lots of bronzes of Shang and Zhou Dynasty as long as some bronze sits were unearthed. These remains and sites carried out a brand-new era of bronze research, which are different from the only research on the sizes, veined pattern, inscriptions of bronze ware in the past.Ritual Bronzes of late Shang Dynasty are made in casting process, which can be seen from the bronzes’surfaces and bronze sites and remains. In the same time, pottery mould share the most application statue of the casting process in The Bronze Age. Some evidences have shown that there are several procedures which are specifically molding, customizing, grain production, making inscriptions, melting and pouring the bronze during casting a bronze,so casting process is complicated. Although the academic circles of archeology have acquired many achievement in the area mentioned before till now, there still exist some differences, causing there is still no admitted framework of casting process. Many researchers have devoted them in simulated experiments and rebounding casting on such bronze ware which have round sizes from transversal surfaces such as tripod, Gu, bronze-jia, wine vessel and Doubles. But bronze ware with elliptic size from transversal surfaces are still beyond research. I am devoted to try to explain some questions below simulate experimenting and rebounding casting on those with elliptic size especially The Bronze Kettle.1. Whether do bronze ware with round size and elliptic size share the same original molding method, and do they only need machining other than excellent skills on sculpture?2. How is the three-layer emblazonry of late Shang Dynasty are made or how did people sculpture emblazonry on the mud model drying in the shade, including main decorative, lines and production of Yin-slot tattooed grain?3. In which way could we improve the degree of adaptability of mould and model, making moulds with pottery core box or making moulds direct with mud model drying in the shade?4. Whether there is a need to preheat the mud model before casting bronzes, and whether the bronze ware casted direct with model and with preheated model share the same metallographic structure?... |
