The arrangement of mausoleums is based on the political requirement and cultural background.I try to figure out how the statuaries stand infront of tombs of South Dynasties become an important part of mausoleums. It seems that South Dynasties endeavored to develop a new tradition different to Han and Jin Dynasty. Mausoleums of South Dynasties are symmetrical arranged to show authority and power rulers. Shen Dao(神道)were designed as central axis. On the contrary, mausoleums of North Dynasty shows more stronger will to fellow the old tradition of Han Dynasty. The different arrangement of mausoleums should be considered as an aspect of the argument between the South and North Dynasty who assuredly represent Huaxia(华夏)The rulers of the North Dynasty must referenced mausoleums of Han and Jin Dynasty on Mang mountain (邙山) before they building tombs. Lack of visual reference, South Dynasty had to creat a new tradition. | Keywords/Search Tags: | mausoleum, South and North Dynasties, statuary | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
