The art image of walking lion of the Shun-mausoleum in the Tang Dynasty whichstands out in glorious age of Tang poetry time’s emperor has represented this time carvedstone art development maximum level, and has the epoch-making model significance inthe Chinese sculpture history. Due to this lion image overall modelling full pure, carvingtechnique succinct, decorating brief fine and the facial expression dynamic vivid natureclearly, until now it was still Chinese style stone lion art which the creation performancefollowed. As the Chinese art history in typical external artistic image, to researching thismodel, not only may enable us to have the understanding to the developing historicalsourceour of stone lion art, but also could deepen us to understang the complexconstitution appearance of the ancient carved stone tradition, meanwhile which has thereality guide to our current artistic creation.From the historical origin, the style constitution and the visual esthetic, this articlewill focus on the many factors, such as art, culture and social history of the art image ofthe Shun-mausoleumoncealing and will analyze the possible condition in which theChinese significance’s carved stone was created.Therefore, along the time sequencewhich this external art image of walking lion enters Chinat, this article will study thepossible line, religious background and the society which may influence the developmentof walking lion atr. Based on those, this article will study esthetic ingredient of walkinglion image of Tang Shunling, focusing on the formal language, the artistic expressiveforce, the time background and its historical situation. This articlewill also analyze thereason of appearance and disappearance of the walking lion artistic image in the Tangmausoleum carved stone from the time and the carved stone craft’s angle and draws theconclusion. All these explorations and the research work may be helpful to understandthe artistic spirit of Chinese culture, and extract nourishment from the traditional art forthe contemporary artistic creation.
