Russian Women Table Word Chinese Translation Studies

Linguistic and cultural differences between two languages are the fundamentalreasons for the incapable translation of total equivalent transformation. Study ofChinese translation of Russian female words refers to the semantic translation ofRussian female words in the bilingual dictionary. This thesis attempts to investigate theformal and semantic transformation bilingually and conclude the translation strategiesof the Russian female words into Chinese under the guideline of theory of Totaltranslation. It concludes three translation strategies according to the uniqueness ofRussian female words: literal translation, free translation, and literal plus free translation,which gives a theoretical guidance for the compilation of the items and terms in thebilingual dictionary. The free translation realizes the semantic resemblance maximallythrough addition, omission, transformation, division and integration formally.Prevalent discussions on the translation have been focusing on the word or higherlevel as the translation unit. Whereas seldom researches investigate the translationmethod morphemically. Based on this, this thesis makes breakthrough on the researchof translation method, namely, the author analyzes the translation from the perspectiveof formal transformation and addition so as to make the translation approach theconnotation and pragmatic meaning of the source language as well as the stylisticfeature maximally. Meanwhile, the author analyzes the female words from theperspectives of cultural difference and thinking difference, which offers motivations forits Chinese translation both in theory and practice.
