Along with China’s ever strengthening economic and international status, it is more and more necessary to recognize Chinese as an important global language. In recent years, Thailand has gradually become one of the most representative locations for popular Chinese language use. Following the Thai government, Confucius Institute and every other educational organization’s efforts, the number of students studying Chinese language in Thailand is increasing daily, therein young students of Thai language are an up and coming group; gradually shifting the focus of Thailand Chinese teaching institutions. Currently, more and more primary schools are establishing Chinese language curriculums, and with an increasing general student population in Thailand naturally an increase in demand for Chinese language material for children can be seen in both terms of quality and quantity.Currently, Thailand’s domestic Chinese language teaching material compilation approach has a relatively undeveloped conceptualization and theoretical research basis and investigations regarding the situation amongst related children’s materials are also rather lacking. This brings about trouble for the institutions that select teaching materials for curriculums; therein to a certain degree this has inhibited its overall development. As a Thai citizen I wish to analyze this problem from the Thai perspective. This thesis investigates three different Children’s teaching materials used in Thailand:Chinese publishing "Experience Chinese-Elementary Version (Tiyan Hanyu Shaoxueban)", Thai-Chinese cooperative publishing "Introductory Chinese (Hanyurumen)", and Thai publishing "Study Chinese (Xue Hanyu)". Analyzing the three materials core concepts, teaching material structure, topics and terminology, language points, activities and exercises content, therein, along with the above analysis it investigates Thailand’s educational situation with regards to conceptualization and modeling used in Chinese teaching materials for children.I hope this research can be enlightening and of reference to researchers in the area of Thai children’s Chinese teaching materials compilation, and more so I hope this can be of some benefit to compilers themselves as well as their related institutions. This thesis includes chapter one:introductory theoretical, chapter two:an analysis regarding the mainland Chinese compiled "Experience Chinese"(Tiyan Hanyu) elementary version, chapter three:an analysis and reflection regarding the Thai-Chinese cooperative compilation "IntroductoryChinese (Hanyurumen)", chapter four:an analysis of Thai compiled "Study Chinese (Xue Hanyu)" and chapter five:a comprehensive reflection regarding Chinese language teaching materials compiled for Thai elementary learners.
