Postmodernism And Chinese Private Photography Culture Practice

Social culture is always connecting with the economic and the political factors. As the part of the social culture, photography is also inevitable to be connected with these social factors. After the Cultural Revolution, China’s economic has a rapid development. With the development, China’s industrialization, the urbanization and other modern socialist characteristics also affect the development of China’s photography. But along with the further development of the industrialization, the urbanization, China photography is also showing the obvious postmodernism tendency, this tendency is embodied in the prosperity of private photography.The first chapter of this paper is focusing on the postmodernism, analyzing the characteristics of the postmodern art, regarding that the postmodern art has the characteristics of diversity, decentering, questioning the structure of the grand narrative, nostalgia. And the second chapter is on the basis of the conclusion of the first chapter, analyzing the development of China photography, putting forward the background of private photography, and analyzing the features of the postmodern private photography, which is based on the postmodern art.The study is based on the theory of the postmodernism, mainly focusing on cultural practice of the China’s private photography in postmodernism period. Through the analyzing the modernism, postmodernism and features of the documentary photography, conceptual photography, private photography, put the photography theory into the human history. And because of that, make the Chinese history of photography more clear, having more social value, helping people to understanding the social and cultural characteristics of modern Chinese society.
