Studying vocabulary lays a foundation for each kind of language learning. In order to improve teaching efficiency and help students’ light-heartedly master new words in class, a high Chinese level is essential to the study on teaching Chinese as a foreign language since nowadays the Sinology has been strongly promoted. A Chinese teaching class provides such an environment in where small applicable or interesting games used, even though just for several minutes, to bring about good effect in class and stimulate students’motivation and increase their interest in Chinese learning. This paper analyzes the present situation of Chinese word teaching and existing problems and points out the importance of gaming teaching method and finds out its origin and basis. By using the theories of second language acquisition, psychology and foreign language teaching methodology, it demonstrates the scientific and necessity of gaming teaching. The thesis surmises and evaluates the game forms, rules and changes in the oral class of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The effects, problems and approaches how to improve are stated. By the end of the paper, it puts forward some basic principles in gaming teaching methods which must abide by:purposiveness and effectiveness, reasonableness and heuristic, diversity and controllability, and fairness. The goal of this thesis is trying to combine game and Chinese teaching together, to help those learners master language while playing games, to make students learn with passion and pleasure through activities.
