The Chinese teaching of the primary stage is very critical for the entire scale of Chinese teaching as a foreign language. As the core course of Chinese teaching as a foreign language, the teaching effect of Comprehensive Chinese lesson has a great influence on the realization of other lessons such as Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.This paper mainly discusses the teaching design of Comprehensive Chinese lesson at the primary stage of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and comes up with some ideas about the teaching methods and procedures of each teaching step. First, the paper makes a introduction of the formation of Communicative Approach which has a significant influence on foreign second language teaching methods, as well as the great influence of psychology, linguistics and other disciplines on this approach. The ultimate goal of Comprehensive Chinese teaching is to help students develop the ability to communicate in Chinese correctly, properly and fluently. Therefore, based on Hymes’s theory of Communicative Competence and its components, as well as Kaiipob’s Five-Stage-Mode and Gagne’s nine teaching events, the paper comes up with the design of teaching goal according to the three stages of Comprehensive Chinese teaching. Considered the cognitive process, the paper puts forward the realization of competence in Comprehensive Chinese teaching, and a teaching design of Comprehensive Chinese teaching at the primary stage. Meanwhile, also talks about the teaching methods and skills of teaching contents such as the teaching of vocabulary, gramma, text, and so on.
