Christianity was introduced into Changan in early Tang Dynasty, known as the Nestorian; after the Opium War, the Catholic and Protestant Christianity (Protestantism) factions in Xi’an.They started openly large-scale missionary activity with expanding its influence, Christianity as auxiliary missionary activity carry out public welfare activities, the famine and war in Shaanxi in late Qing Dynasty can be seen in the Church of Christ in Xi’an carry out welfare activities.The christian welfare activities include health care, education and the Salesian relief activities.The Republic of China, the Christian actively runs hospitals, schools, child refuge, to assist the government in disaster relief. The Christian Church to carry out public welfare activities not only make up for the government and non-governmental organizations in social management shortcomings, but also for Xi’an bring new institutions, new charity concept, new management mode. These new ideas, institutions and management methods chang Xi’an onw social service system,meanwhile improve the process of modernization in Xi’an.
