Rosalyn Tureck (1914-2003) is a remarkable pianist in20century, especially in how to play the works of J.S. Bach. She hasresearched the works of J.S. Bach in her whole life so that she has gotvery outstanding achievement in theory also practical area. In themeantime, this achievement also became a very important referenceresource for the later generations who are learning the works of J.S.Bach.Basically, this article has been divided in three parts to analyzehow did Tureck explain the works of J.S. Bach in theory and practicalarea. In the first chapter, it mainly introduces characteristics ofperformance of the keyboard works of Bach which influenced by thestyle of piano performance and performance aesthetics as thebackground in the twentieth century. Through combing the style ofperformance of piano and performance aesthetics in the twentiethCentury, in order to pursue the reasons of style of Tureck Bach’s worksbe formed by history. In the second chapter, it proves rationality andscience of Tureck’s performance concept, mainly by analysis ofTurech’s life background, performance career, and the theoretical andpractical which achieved by her on the keyboard works of Bachinterpretation. In the third chapter, it compares the playing tone ofTureck in different acting period, also between Tureck, Nikolaeva,Gould and other famous performers interpreting the keyboard works ofBach in the same period, further more analyzes Turek’s annotation ofmusic text in the light of the keyboard works of Bach, it can deeplydemonstrate the performance characteristic and the performanceconcept of Turek’s interpretation on the keyboard works of Bach,meanwhile based on this, it can provide the reference on performanceand teaching of the keyboard works of Bach nowadays. In the twentieth century’s famous keyboard virtuoso, Turek isone of very few important pianist who dedicated to Bach’s keyboardworks performance and theory research through her whole life, she notonly left papers which had high-level academic value, but also left veryvaluable data of playing tone. This paper attempts to research Tureckon interpretation of the theory and performance conception of thekeyboard works of Bach, and combine the performance aesthetics、performance history theory and so on, and deeply insight into Tureck’sperformance theory and performance practice of the keyboard worksof Bach, in order to provide a new perspective for more learners who islearning Bach’s keyboard works, seeking innovation.
