"Barcarolles", writing by Faure. who is a French romantic composer in the19th century, is a set of piano music showing French music style. At present, the research on Faure and his "Barcarolles" is still relatively scarce at home and abroad, and the research abroad is comparatively rich. Because the research on Faure and his ’"Barcarolles" at home is not focused and in-depth enough, this topic still has much space to develop. Firstly, this essay sets about the relationship between French social and cultural background and music, and introduces other French composers, such as the musical style and writing techniques of Saint-Saenz and Frank. Secondly, this essay has a detailed analysis on "Barcarolles", specifically musical form, tonality, playing tips and so on, thus can understand the music correctly. Finally, it is a comparison of Impressionist composers Debussy and Ravel who were in the same period as Faure. and the comparison is mainly about musical language, writing features and musical style.
