Meng Jinghui Pioneer Drama Art Paper

This dissertation aims at introducing the Meng Jinghui’s avant-gradetheatre which appears in Chinese drama stage nearly thirty years. Itdiscusses the background of Meng theatre from four aspects, following aspolitical context, economic environment, as well as Chinese and westernculture perspective. Besides, the paper is based on the traditionaltheatre theory to argue that the Meng theatre is not rejecting thetraditional theatre at all. However, the Meng theatre is inheriting thetraditional theatre and based on it to reject it partly. Moreover, thispaper focuses on the recent works in Meng theatre, thinking whether ithas the characteristics of commercial drama, especially during incommercial period, it also willing to try some on the avant gardeness.Finally, the paper concerns for the question of Acantgarde Drama whichis low and common content and formal emptiness. The author who is basedon the efforts of the Meng’s drama and aesthetic theory and reference oftraditional drama tried to offer the learning experience for most ChinesePioneer drama scholars.
