This article do a detailed and specific research in the spatial imagery of FAMILY in the fifth generation directors’early films. And to find out the underlying traditional conception and culture ideology, by analyzing the structure and content. Also, explain the prototype of the family mode and the deep culture traits which produced this mode, and to fulfill a fabular decoding. Those excellent films which companied by a tide of finding root embraced the world surely have many time traits and artistic form worthy to meditate. Particularly some typical movie which exhibiting the Chinese traditional family modality and inner meaning profoundly reflect on the family culture. To have a good understanding the national culture of the Chinese film, firstly the family culture property should be chosen as the origin of the research. A nation’s whole culture form derives from the family appearance traits, so the research into family form traits of the film is critical important.The author choose several early products which have typical spatial family imagery to scrutinize and analyze. This article is focus on the movies including "Huang tu di","Raise the red lantern","Ju dou","The blue kite","Peacock". After seeing those movies seriously, have a preliminary classification. Firstly, classify the spatial family impression into "cave-house" impression,"residence" impression,"half floor" impression, those impression became an symbol of the family in that time. Secondly, this article pursues a deep exploration, dissection in the narration level and classify the narration into two kinds,"duality" and "cycloid". The author read a lot relating literature writings and then understood the movie structuralism narration and culture moral and creative intends. Talk about how special narration structure serves the exhibition of family fable. Thirdly, basing on the spatial family impression, the author have a comparing research into the text and separate it into three kinds,"family order" fable,"family enlighten" fable,"family badger" fable. All those family fable were ended with a tragedy. This tragedy emotion comes from a whole Chinese aesthetic ethos. All those different kinds of films have some coherent national culture structure and laws. Understanding those culture instinct is the base of the writers’creature in fiction, movie and other artistic form.Basing on the pre-research on the products of the fifth generation directors, the article scans the family intrinsic culture meaning by the extrinsic spatial impression form; and find the accordance between the theme and the content; educe the summarizing of family fable from the prototype story plot. Considering the anterior classical theories, attitudes and views, this article begins with the movie’s spatial analyze, combines the family spatial form, narrative structure and the family fable; distinguishes layer by layer; re-interpret the fifth generation’s films with a somehow new perspective and manner. Then, compares those family movies which are full of introspective spirits with the "Wusi" time movies and the globalizing movies; puts those movies in a continual developing history long river and finish the analyzing to find out the culture meanings.
