Jean Jacques Rousseau, in18th century France enlightenment represents one of the premier. Formation of civic education in Rousseau’s thought and his personal experiences and the era, this idea is also under the influence of Plato and Aristotle thought of civic education.Citizens of Rousseau’s educational thoughts mainly includes educational objectives, content and ways of education the following three areas. Rousseau’s most moral and wisest citizens of training as objectives of civic education, and to the citizens as a solid basis for construction of ideal contract society. Rousseau’s travelling mainly through advocacy community, build civic religious establishment and implementation of public education in three ways on citizen morality, freedom, patriotic, and legal education and thereby facilitate the transformation of the natural person to the citizen and individual will to transition to the public will, to finally realize the cultivation of good citizens. Rousseau believes that good citizens are yearning for freedom of the citizen, under the guidance of their freedom, through agreed to conclude a social contract, becomes the new owner of the political community through active political involvement, common under the Supreme leadership of the public, and themselves and obey their will to law, so as to maintain the long-term stable running of the community. Conversely, political stable operation of the health of the community and for citizens to enjoy freedom, equality and well-being provides a strong guarantee. Rousseau, associated with educational and political is always be taken into account. Although Rousseau’s thought of civic education is a product of specific historical circumstances, many of whom are idealized atmosphere also faces some theoretical dilemma and therefore cannot directly to promote civic education science solutions in today’s China. However, a certain sense, Rousseau’s thought of civic education in some aspects can provide us valuable inspiration.
