Carlos Shola Ballet Film Studies

Carlos Saura is one of the most outstanding film masters in Spain. he was a pioneer in the dance film, the particular musical sub-type, and has his own unique distinctive style. Saura’s dance films condensed his wisdom and the essence of decades of film-making, full of evocative art of endless beauty.In my thesis,Saura’s five dance films will be the main study object.I will do a comprehensive review and in-depth exploration in terms of the theme, narrative, audio-visual performance, style and direction these four causes. In order to do analysis of structured and credible, I also made reference to several Saura’s representative works of Political film and Flamingo documentary. This text is divided into four chapters:the first chapter from the works convey the theme ideas discussed, explained the difference of the fate of women, loneliness and death and the Spanish style variation on the expression of this three big themes, sought to gain Saura’s spiritual world; the second chapter focuses on the analysis in the ballet film the film art form, Saura how ingenious narrative; the third chapter from the color, light and space modeling aspects, a comprehensive analysis of works that present visual artistic charm; the fourth chapter of the Saura’s dance style of film were summarized, and on the basis of this style, causes and future trend to carry on the elaboration and the analysis.The innovation of this paper is this is the first time to study Saura’s dance movie comprehensively.Not only dig his works of art possess beauty, but also make an objective assessment and value judgments for their future development trends.
