| This article validates the structure of Boredom Proneness Questionnaire for College Students(BPQ) and Core Self-Evaluations Scale by the way of factor analysis, on the basis of468college students in Nanjing; Use Boredom Proneness Questionnaire for College Students, Core Self-Evaluations Scale and The Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) as instruments to find out weather meaning in life have an effect on boredom proneness, as well as the mediating effects of core self-evaluations between meaning in life and boredom proneness. In addition, this research also compares the BPQ scores between different sexes, grades and majors.The conclusion is that:(1) BPQ include six first-order factors (monotony, loneliness, self-control, creativity, strain, and constraint) as well as two second-order factors (external stimulation, internal stimulation); Core Self-Evaluations Scale contains two factors (positive factor and negative factor);(2) Meaning in life has a significant effect on boredom proneness, Presence of meaning (MLQ-P) has a significant negative effect on both external stimulation factor and internal stimulation factor of BPQ, Search for meaning (MLQ-S) has a significant positive effect on external stimulation. Core self-evaluations have full mediating effects between meaning in life and boredom proneness, the percentage is82.5%;(3) Females get higher scores than males on constraint and strain factors of BPQ; sophomore students get higher scores than freshmen and senior students on monotony; freshmen get higher scores than senior students on constraint, they also get higher scores than sophomore students and junior students on self-control. |
