The Expression Of Sadness Inhibition Effects On The Ultimatum Game

The emotion has an important function, addition to driven by material rewards and punishments, people’s decision-making behavior in social situations, but also by the impact of emotional. Therefore, regulation of emotion effective is a critical issue, and it may even affect the subsequent decision-making behavior. Expression suppression is considered to be an effective strategy to regulate negative emotion in researches of Gross. In this study, decision-making situations in the Ultimatum Game Paradigm simulate real social life. In this experiment subjects were evoked to a sad mood through film clips, and using guide language require them to regulate emotion by suppression. Record the performance of individuals in the subsequent social decision-making behavior and peripheral physiological responses in two situations of suppression and natural. This study is to explore the mechanism of emotion regulation strategies affect social decision-making behavior.Rusults of this study:(1)The interaction effect of proponents gender and respondents gender is significant. When the respondents were male, in the face of female proposers, the rejection rate was significantly lower than men’s proponent.(2) Film clips evoked the grief experience, and two groups rated themselves above the general level.Score of suppression group is lower than the natural watch group, but the difference did not reach significant levels.(3)Analyzing the rejection rates of ultimatum game, it found that differences between the four kinds of proposals are significant in suppression group and the rejection rate increased with the reduction of the fairness, the difference between the two of fair and unfair proposal is significant in natural group.(4)Analyzing values of SCR, it found that differences in￥5:￥5and￥7:￥3proposals were significantly less than8:￥2and￥9:￥1in suppression group, however, differences between the four kinds of proposals are significant in natural group. The change values of suppression group were significantly higher than the natural group in￥5:￥5and￥8:￥2proposals.(5)Analyzing values of maximum amplitude of SCR, it found that the differences in￥5:￥5and￥7:￥3proposal were significantly less than￥8:￥2and￥9:￥1; the change values of suppression group were significantly higher than natural group in four kinds of proposals.Conclusions of this study:When the respondents were male in the pairing of the proponent and the gender of the respondents, in the face of the female proponent rejection rate was significantly lower than men’s proponent. Expression suppression reduces the occurrence of emotional behavior response, and rejection rate was significantly lower in expression suppression group than in the natural group, however, it did not effectively reduce the subjective’s experience of sadness. Expression suppression enhanced the level of skin conductance response.
