| Along with the domestic and international sports events increasing, the internationalsports talent exchanges have become increasingly frequent, sports fields for English talentsneeds grow with each passing day, the past that has the sports knowledge lack of foreignlanguage communication ability or only language and lack of sports knowledge talent hasbeen unable to meet the needs of the continuous development of sports. In order to adapt tothis new situation, sports English majors should emerge as the times require. On thewestern border of Qinghai Province, with the ring of Qinghai Lake International CyclingRace, China International crossing the Yellow River extreme challenge, the Qinghaiplateau International Rock Climbing Championship three tournament back on trackgradually, society of professional type, compound type, applied English talent demand isalso gradually increased, especially the understand sports professional knowledge, Englishlevel and good sports professionals in English popular.In this paper, using the method of literature, expert interviews, questionnaire survey andother research methods, on three universities in Qinghai province the investigation ofteachers and students, setting up the sports elective English courses are facing internal andexternal environment and conditions for running a school makes an objective evaluationand analysis, summarized in the universities of Qinghai province sports elective Englishcourses problems and setting up the sports elective English courses demonstrated feasible.The results showed as follows:Ⅰ Sports English Curriculum in Qinghai province has not received enough attention,relevant leaders, teachers and students on sports cognition level is not high enough, bygeographical environment, sports English course work has not started. At the same time,the lack of suitable materials, weak teachers’ strength also hindered the sports Englishcourse in University and College of Qinghai province.Ⅱ Through the conversation, three university leaders, teachers and students on sportscourses in English this burgeoning course began to have different levels of understandingand basic approve of this course.Ⅲ The Qinghai Province ordinary university start sports elective English courses have agood basis for the masses: a total student population of53.29%students who are willing tochoose the sports elective English courses; at the same time, also have accounted for thetotal number of25.58%teachers,55.81%teachers of foreign languages" in favor of" and"basic support" in Qinghai Province ordinary college sport elective English courses. Thisshows that, in the Qinghai Province ordinary college sport elective English courses hasfeasibility.Ⅳ From the direction of reform of the university curriculum, sports English courses intouniversity teaching is a general trend, in line with the direction of reform of universitycurriculum, and promote the organic integration of sports and English professional. While for the organic integration between the various disciplines to provide a valuable experiencefor reference.Ⅴ English elective courses of physical education in the universities of Qinghai, and willmeet the needs of social development, on social economy in Qinghai province and Qinghaiopened the United States providing services, increase self-publicity, and sports events inQinghai province and will play a positive role in the development of sports tourismindustry.
