Paper-cut is the most common and varietal cultural tradition in China. Shui people did not have standardized appellation to it. In daily life. Paper-cut used for embroidery is called "Ga Ye" means cutting cloth. In the funeral, it is made in three-dimensional suspension way, Including the flag, memorial tablet and offerings. In the SuNingXi festival, it used to represent "Nihang", named "Niangniang" or "Nai" In Wu customs, it is called "Li Luo Xiu Kun", means repair Bridges and roads. Because Wax printing mold is made from brown paper and apply carve techniques, the paper attribute it to the custom paper-cutting. BanGao is a typical Shui people village, Paper-cut play an irreplaceable role, Its features, present situation and the culture connotation is worthy of studying.This paper adopts the method of village culture as the main body and the anthropological fieldwork methods. By investigating the Paper-cut in the use of village, in the faith and the status of the inheritance, looking for the contains the historical and cultural value in paper-cut, and to explore the relations among paper-cut, people and villages. I hope I can put the paper-cut in the villages of situation sorted out.This paper includes introduction, text and epilogue. Introduction part introduces the choice of research object, research review and the method, purpose and significance of this study. The first chapter introduces the general situation of Shui people, the natural environment of BanGao, living custom and cultural background. The second chapter analyses four paper-cut types in BanGao and their cultural connotations. The third chapter introduces the tools, materials, techniques, inheritors and their representative works. The fourth chapter analyzes the present situation and problems of BanGao and paper-cut. Chapter V is the conclusion. I hope that through investigation and research on the traditional paper-cut and village, to record ther life and faith of Shui people, in order to provide specific and reliable text to the cultural inheritance of Shui people.
