China has now a more extensive relationship with the international community interms of politics, economy, culture and military defense. Its participation in variousinternational conferences becomes more and more frequent. As a result, interpreting playsan increasingly important role. Providing a platform to uphold world peace, promotecommon development and strengthen the international cooperation and exchange, UNGeneral Assembly, representing the highest level of the world’s high-end meeting, ismainly in charge of deliberation, supervision and examinations. In this report, the authorchooses the remarks by President Obama at the67th UN General Assembly as thesimulated consecutive interpreting material, attempting to analyze and explore theproblems that may be encountered in the consecutive interpreting, and putting forwardfeasible strategies.Derived from the study on interpreting and the translation of international conferences,French school of interpretative theory insists that the aim of interpreting is to passmeanings. Under the guidance of the interpretative theory, the author makes an analysis ofsome specific examples, taking into consideration of the constraints of backgroundknowledge, personal state and consecutive interpreting notes. Targeting to serve a betterconsecutive interpreting in the future, the author also makes an analysis of the interpretingexperience such as the usage of syntactic linearity.
