This interpreting task is to do simulated consecutive interpretation of HillaryClinton’s remarks in recognition of International Human Rights Day2011so as toconclude interpreting strategies by applying skopos theory to interpreting.This report consists of five chapters. Chapter One is task description, mainly talkingabout the background of the task and the features of the source text; Chapter Two isprocess description which includes pre-interpreting preparation and during-interpretingprocess; Chapter Three introduces theoretical framework: skopos theory, more exactlyspeaking, the author introduces the skopos rule, the coherence rule and the fidelity rule indetail; Chapter Four is interpreting strategies, in which through specific case analysis theauthor puts forward several interpreting strategies under the guidance of the skopostheory; Chapter Five is conclusion, mainly pointing out the experience and deficiency ofthis report.It has been indicated that skopos theory can not only be applied to translation butalso to interpreting. It adequately explains and backs up the interpreting strategies basedon the skopos rule, the coherence rule and the fidelity rule. In this report, the authormainly introduced the application of the interpreting strategies in interpreting, such asconversion of part of speech, splitting of long sentences, amplification, literal interpretingand free interpreting, simply in the hope of providing some reference which will facilitateboth interpreting learning and practice.
