Li Changzhi Aesthetics Research

As one of Tsinghua four swordsmen, Li Chang-zhi as a literary critic was famous on the stage of history. His life is short but very complex, he consentrated on Literature and art criticism, art history, history of Chinese literary criticism, German classical philosophy, Chinese classical aesthetics etc. He wrote more than500papers,20monographs. Although Li Chang-zhi never published a special aesthetic treatise, we can not deny the value of his thought of esthetic. At present, we have not paid more enough attention to Li Chang-zhi’s thought of aesthetic. Especially there are not degree thesis on the special research.This article is based on reading Li Chang-zhi’s monographs and related papers, follows the principle of unity of history and logic of Marxism, by method of combination, integration and promotion, and put Li Chang-zhi’s thought of esthetic in the background of cultural communication, found its unique value.The first part is to analyze the origin of Li Chang-zhi’s thought of aesthetic, mainly from two aspects about the academic course and theory origin. The bud and development of Li Chang-zhi’s thought on aesthetic deeply affected by the time background, family and school education, individual preferences. He has not only profound ancient Chinese literature search skills, but also broad academic vision and was affected by German classical philosophy.The second part comes up with the opinion that Li Chang-zhi realize the ideal of the Renaissance as his beginning and conclusion.On the one hand, it helps to consolidate the base of his literary criticism; on the other hand, through the construction and polish of his esthetics theory, he try his best to boost the people’s personalities.The third part sorts out Li Chang-zhi’s thought of aesthetic, mainly contains three aspects:the type of emotion, art theory, aesthetic education theory. The type of emotion is the most important theoretical contribution of Li Chang-zhi. This theory is on the basis of Li Chang-zhi’s philosophy, aesthetic skills and the practice of literary criticism. It is the standard of Li Chang-zhi’s literature criticism and his awareness of the art. Art theory includes functional theory, category theory, language theory, fully reflect the basic issue of the literary and artistic. Aesthetic education theory is based on traditional Chinese culture. Li Chang-zhi hoped to take fully advantage of the outstanding theoretical achievements in traditional Chinese culture to create a new aesthetic and give more attention to aesthetic education.The fourth part is grasp Li Chang-zhi’s thought of aesthetic, summarizes the main features of the aesthetic ideas of Li Chang-zhi:the outward manifestation of the critical characteristic, the integration of the inherent character of the spirit of the classical and romantic, the ultimate goal of human care.The fifth part is to make evaluation about Li Chang-zhi’s thought of aesthetic. Li Chang-zhi’s academic research had been got some recognition. Although his some arguments are debatable, his way of think and the methods of research are meaningful for now.
