In ancient China, Conferring Honor is a way for public education rulers tomaintain its ruling order.Chinese dynasties pay much attention to and honor theloyalists，dutiful son，righteous husbands and faithful wives. In the period of the earlyQin Dynasty, Conferring Honor has started to play a role.But it as a system began inthe Han dynasty. The rulers took the policy of ’Ruling the Country with filial piety’ inHan dynasty, whose object is given priority to filial conduct. In WeiJin and Suidynasties, Conferring Honor became normalized. The Tang dynasty is a turningperiod for the conferring honor system. During the Song and Yuan period, as a kind ofmoral restraint, the conferring honor system began to act as a powerful educationaltool. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, the conferring honor system focused on thesection to honor dutiful son, mainly used in constraint women, which became moralcodes. The conferring honor system accompanied with system alternation at thebeginning of the alienation.That is discussed in this paper is the conferring honor system of the Tang dynasty.From the conferring honor system in Han Wei Jin Sui dynasties to Song Yuan Mingand Qing dynasties, Tang dynasty is one of the most important period, in which thewhole conferring honor system transformed from the recognition and cultivationcustoms to moral constraints. Subject of the conferring honor system in the tangdynasty is the central and local governments, dutiful son, loyal female,multi-generation, meaning the door as the main target of the conferring honor.Theway of the conferring honnor system primarily is to commendate the VillageGate,which is a symnolic way to conferring honor, while another supplementary wayis to give cloth and exempt tax,which can considered as a utility method. In the Tangdynasty,the conferring honor system played an important role in the politics, economy,culture and custom, even the complementary law, and had appeared in the alienationphenomena of the system. The conferring honor system in Tang dynasty has its own characteristics, which focuses on loyalty and filial piety. Although Confucianism isnot dominant in the Tang dynasty, social and ideological basis to the conferring honorsystem in the Tang dynasty is rooted in the recognition of the public support for thespread of Confucianism and Confucian thought.
