After the Islamic Revolution, Iran become a country with integration of religionand politics from a secular monarchy country, but Iranian political system is conformto the world trend of political modernization, meanwhile theocracy’s power higherthan legislative, executive and judicial. So that Islam had made a great impact on theprocess of political modernization in Iran. The article seeks to analyze the impact ofIslam in all aspects of political modernization in Iran by Samuel p. Huntington’spolitical modernization theory. Islam transforming politics of Iran, which rendersdistinct religious characteristics in political authority of Iran and plays an objectivelycounteractive role in strictly controlling governmental politics, promotes Iranianpolitics in a sense to rationality. Besides, Islam restricting citizens to participate inpolitical process of Iran makes political participation passively under way. Bothdemocratic elements and contents of modernization are increased in the process ofpolitical modernization of Iran. The religious leader plays a balancing role in differentpolitical forces and blocs. A comprehensive policy of Islamization is an explorationand attempt to achieving political modernization of Iran.
