Overseas Chinese groupstransplanting overseas incarnates Chinese and foreign cultural exchange itself. It can reflect someconflict and fusion between the two societies and two kinds of culture. As a Chinese immigrantearlier and relatively centralized area, Southeast Asia’s data especially attracts our attention.From18to twentieth Batavia Tribunal left thousands of books archives, it is the first of OverseasChinese literature. This batch of data records social life of Overseas Chinese of Batavia in detail,and the data is also very rich reflecting interaction and relationship of Overseas Chinese and otherethnic groups.However, previous studies only focus on life and relationships of foreigners in China,while the outside data mining limited, the research has been relatively weak in interaction andrelationship of Overseas Chinese and other ethnic. Batavia’s slaves are a special social group,especially slaves of Overseas Chinese families. They are mainly from the Southeast Asianindigenous peoples, while living in even fusing in Overseas Chinese society, and familiar withvarious nationalities living environment. They often act as a role of media in the communicationsof the economic, cultural and other aspects between Overseas Chinese and other ethnic groups.Based on “Gong An Bu†series1—9, referring to the itinerary of European settlers andadventurer in Southeast Asia, the paper focuses on the slaves, a special social group in Batavia,and analyzes concretely the role of media in economy, marriage and other aspects betweenOverseas Chinese and local society.
