Since ancient times Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is a multi-ethnicinhabit region. Historically, there are frequent exchanges and Interaction between thevarious nationalities. Although there are some contradictions and frictions, on the whole,friendly co-operation is mainstream. After the founding of new China, with theimplementation of ethnic identification and regional autonomy policy, some changes ofethnic relations in Enshi state occurred. This article takes Dahe Town of EnshiPrefecture as a case study, focus on the relationship between Tujia, Miao and Hansubjects. Through investigation, this paper thinks all ethnic groups of Dahe Towncoexist in harmony, intermarriage rate is high, residence pattern does not appearapparent national geographic boundaries, all ethnic groups live together, national culturemingled mutually, the national border is more blurred, National consciousnessdeveloped from the specific stimulation, its maintenance is the result of rational choiceof all ethnic groups members. Being influenced by Population proportion, historicalinfluences and culture’s interactive relation, Dahe town’s national relationship appears"Tujia-Miao-Han" ternary relation pattern.At the local, Tujia and Miao are autonomous ethnic, Han and other ethnicminorities are non-autonomous ethnic.This differences in self-realization of rights makelocal ethnic political relationship prominent,form some national barriers to some extent,the local ethnic population size also make distribution of political rights and the maincultural formation showing some disharmonious phenomena. However, it does notaffect the overall direction of ethnic relations’ development. Moreover, within theconditions of the national policy, local people use the national identity to seek for theirown personal interests. Therefore, the social symbolic significance of national identityis prominent. Dahe Town as a microcosm of the Joint autonomous ethnic regions, someproblems of ethnic relations such as poverty issues, the quantity and quality of nationalcadres lag there maybe exist in other similar areas. To improve this situation, need tovigorously develop economic, cultural and other social undertakings, to provide a good economic and cultural foundation for the national development. Strengthen theconstruction of ethnic minority cadres to ensure the political rights of minorities. At thesame time, it is also necessary to improve the national policies and regulations, providethe foundation for the handling of various issues.
