Research On The Political Identity Of Chinese Citizens Under The Online Political Patricipation

In the information age, by virtue of the characteristics of its low cost, highefficiency, the Internet has profoundly changed all aspects of human social life. Theemergence and development of online political participation is outstanding performancein the political field. Online political participation refers to the political behavior whichusers take part in the political life through the network , to express the wishes of theindividual or collective, thus to affect the activities of the state power system, especiallyto have an impact on the political decision-making process. In aspects of reducing thecost of political participation, improving the political enthusiasm, and enhancing theefficacy of political participation, online political participation increasingly shows theincomparable advantages of the traditional political participation, and becomes the newchannel for citizens’ political participation.The nature of political identity is the recognition and support extent about thepolitical community which is made by the members of the political community, is thesense of belonging and attachment of the political system, is the citizens’ trust inpolitical power, faith of political values, is the necessary condition for the legitimacy ofpolitical power. We must recognize that, in modern society, how important politicalidentity is for the social political stability and development of a country, especially thedeveloping countries. Therefore, political identity in the field of political culture, isalways the political proposition in the study of politics which is full of vitality.The deepening of the online political participation has made people’s politicalawareness, political emotions and political attitudes which have undergone profound changes, and greatly affected the development of citizen’s political identity. On the onehand to promote the process of political modernization and political democratization, toprovide the conditions and guarantees for the construction of citizens’ politicalparticipation, to strengthen the path for the development of political identity, and topromote the individual political socialization. On the other hand the complex andnon-rational of the online political participation, and the lack of normative, make thereverse obstacles role to citizen’s political identity also.With the rapid progress of network technology, the increasing number of internetusers, and the vigorous development of e-government, online political participation isincreasingly becoming an important path of the Chinese citizens’ political participation,and a significant way to push for political identity. Different forms of politicalparticipation, like network monitoring, network petition, network of political action,network election and so on, are in ascendant, continuously enhancing the effectivenessof the online political participation, thus providing a solid foundation for enhanced thepolitical identity of Chinese citizens. It can be said that the political identity of thecontemporary Chinese citizens in general showing a good development trend. But in theonline political participation, some factors which can digested citizens’ politicalparticipation is existing, such as the coexistence of multicultural, differentiation ofsocial interest, and the corruption of some officials, as well the irrational and illegalonline political participations are endless, and so on. The existence of these problemsnot only because Internet users’ own shortage in their participation ability and level, butalso government supervision, weakness of reaction, political system incomplete, andtechnology lag etc. If these risk factors cannot be properly resolved, politicalidentification crisis may break out, and threat the political legitimacy of Governmentdirectly.This paper is basic on the elaboration on the inherent logical relationship betweenonline political participation and civil political identity, and the analysis on current development of civil political identity in the context of online political participation,trying to fumble the suggestions which can enhance the civic political identity throughonline political participation. Proposed that under the premise of adhering to fair andjust value orientation, strengthen the constructions of network hardware, focus on thepopularization and education of the software which means network knowledge.Enhance the effectiveness of online political participation and expanding interestidentification, through the systematic construction. Enhance the value recognitionthrough building the network ethics system and political culture. Strengthen the legalregulation of online political participation, strengthen the supervision and guidance ofthe public opinion on network. Build the government on type of "participation&response", to enhance the credibility of the Government. I hope to build the institutionalmechanisms which is conducive to the integration of political identity, throughenhancing the effectiveness of online political participation, continue to inspire thecitizens’ political enthusiasm, upgrade the degree of political identity, promote the sounddevelopment of Chinese citizens’ political identity.
