Research On The Problem Of Supporting The Elderly In Guilin Rural Hui

As the problem of aging population become worse, more and more people pay their attention to taking care of the elderly. The degree of aging in the villages of ethnic areas is much deeper than cities and other common villages. At present, old people are mostly taken care of by their family members. But in the poor ethnic area, old people are absolutely taken care of by their own children or relatives. So the ethic areas have a tough task in taking care of the elderly. The Hui nationality in GuiLin is far away from Hui’s core cultural area. The way of supporting old people has many characteristics including the general and the specific, under the influence from the Hui’s religious belief and the Han culture. This study will carried out through materials and investigation.So it is necessary to make research on the problem of supporting the elderly in GuiLin rural Hui.Firstly,introduction. It introduces the origin and meaning of this research, makes a summary of related theory and other materials, as well as gives the definition to concepts.It also introduces the method and sample.Secondly,Ideological and cultural origins of nursing traditions in regions of Hui ethnics. This section will be stated in two parts, displines of Islam and effects of "filial piety culture" of Confucianism. Displines of Islam include regulations of religional classics, islam organizations, effects of education and nursing of mosques. Effects of "filial piety culture" of Confucianism include the connotations and requests of "filial piety culture", its nursing effects and influences to nursing in regions of Hui ethnics.Then, nursing conditions and existing problems of Hui people in rural areas of Guilin. Firstly, the author made an analysis of the nursing conditions of old people in Qianjing county from aspects of health, economy, methods, wishes, spiritual comforting and so on. And the problems are in the following, such as none taking care of the old, tough life, bad health, fading of religious ideas of respecting and nursing the old and so on. Secondly, the author analyzed the nursing conditions of old people in Jiu county from aspects of health, economy, methods, wishes, spiritual comforting and so on. Problems like bad health of the old, unsatisfactory medical conditions, loss of spiritual life, religious faith but unmet needs, and lack of nursing while in the off-season of dried salt season production do exist in such areas. Finally, the author made a analysis of the differences and similarities between nursing conditions and problems of two old Hui regions. The analyze shows that:the elderly from different ethnic area has a similar request in live condition, physic comfort, but huge difference in economic expectation, the degree of being taken care, the way of physic comfort, and religious belief.Next, the influencing factors and the advices for the problem of supporting the elderly in GuiLin rural Hui. The influencing factors are the economic condition, way of living on, the Islamic beliefs, children’s opinions about respecting and supporting the elderly, the social endowment insurance.According above research, it is a better way to change current situation that keeping the traditional support way and developing the family-supported-age care system. Obviously speaking, it is that the government should focus on developing local economy; improve the ethnic social work, perfect the endowment insurance; respect the ole people’s Islamic beliefs; make full use of Mosque and other related religious organizations.Lastly, summary. It makes a summery of this research.
