Vigorous development of environmental protection industry is a key constituentpart of environment protection and sustained development strategy in China. Thispaper had a comprehensive analysis of the competitiveness of environmentalprotection industry in Zhuji at present, applied industrial competitiveness and publicpolicy theory and presented practical and workable policies and measures to solve theexisting problems on city’s environmental development course. It’s a reference forZhuji city to upgrade competitiveness of environmental protection industry.This paper focused on the status quo of competitiveness of environmentalprotection industry in Zhuji and analyzed strengths and weaknesses of the city’senvironmental protection industry as well as Zhuji Municipal government’s omissionin policy making for development of environmental protection industry. Based on theexisting policies and measures on competitiveness of environmental protectionindustry available at both home and abroad, the paper presented special policies andmeasures to upgrade competitiveness of environment industry in Zhuji. The paper isdivided into five parts and focuses three key aspects:1) comprehensively analyzes thecompetitiveness of environmental protection industry in Zhuji, including its strengthsand weakness;2) analyzes the advanced experiences and methods for cultivation anddevelopment of environmental protection industry presented by local governments inUSA and Japan;3) presents measures and policies for developing and upgradingcompetitiveness of environmental protection industry in Zhuji from three aspects, i.e.constituting development plan, providing preferential and supporting policies andimproving policies for social services.
