Research On The Cause And Resolution Strategy Of The Conflict Between Undergraduate Lovers

With the maturation of the physiological function, the college students, who are in aperiod of transition from early youth to adult, psychology is gradually developed and sexualawareness is becoming awaking; with the development of the social economy, the admissionage is to let out and the ban of marriage is lifted, the college students for love is full of illusionand hope, love has become an important part of their college life. Sweet and romantic love isenviable, but love is not always smooth, especially after the freshness and madly period, allkinds of conflict will gradually appear, and to a great extent the conflict is added muchflexural colour and has influenced the relationship between lovers. This study explored thecause of the conflict between lovers and the resolution strategies that college students used todeal with conflict, and further analysis is tested the gender differences of these resolutionstrategies.The study is divided into two parts:In the first part, we researched the cause and resolution strategy of the conflict betweenthe college student lovers. The data was collected by the openended questionnaire, then wedid the qualitative analysis to the data, and ensured the causes and resolution strategies of theconflict between the lovers. The results of the study showed that, there are three types ofcauses of the conflict: mutual factors, including miscommunication, character conflict, toomuch constraint, ignorance each other, customary of difference and different concepts;individual factors, including shiftless, dishonest and mistrust; objective factors, includingcontact with the opposite sex and family rejection. The resolution strategies these the loversused have four types: communication and cooperation, yielding, avoidance and competition.The second part is a research that survey the gender differences of resolution strategythat solve the conflict between lovers. According to the results of the first study, work out ascene questionnaire of resolution strategy to solve the conflict between lovers, and survey thegender differences of resolution strategy. There are eight kinds of scenes, situational settingsusing the form of2(causer sex: boy vs. girl)×4(the causes of the conflict: communication andcooperation vs. yielding vs. avoidance vs. competition), and the dependent variable is thefrequency that used the four kinds of resolution strategies. According to the experience, the subject is asked for on the position of the heroine in situations to make a choice for eachstrategy. The study found that: the resolution strategy which the lovers use most iscommunication and cooperation, and there is no singnificant dieffrence in gender, but theboys take communication and cooperation frequency slightly higher than girls. The otherthree strategies, the boys,used frequency from high to low in turn is yielding, avoidance andcompetition; the girls,is competition, avoidance and yielding.There is singnificant dieffrencein gender of yielding, avoidance and competition; the boys,frequency of the competitionstrategy is significantly lower than girls, and significantly higher than girls in respect ofyielding and avoidance. And then apply Multiway ANOVA, we can know that: the main effectof the subject sex is significant on competition, yielding and avoidance; the main effect of thecause is significant on competition; the interaction of the subject sex and the causer sex issignificant on competition,yielding and avoidance; the interaction of the subject sex and thecause is significant on competition; the triple interaction of the subject sex, the causer sex andthe causes significant on competition, yielding, avoidance, communication and cooperation.Through the above study, the study reaches the following main conclusions:(1)There are three types of cause of the conflict between lovers: mutual factors;individual factors and objective factors.(2)The resolution strategies these the college students lovers used have four types:communication and cooperation, yielding, avoidance and competition.(3)The resolution strategy which the lovers use most is communication and cooperation,and there is no singnificant dieffrence in gender; there is singnificant dieffrence in gender ofyielding and avoidance, the boys,frequency of the compromise and avoid strategy issignificantly higher than girls; there is singnificant dieffrence in gender of competition, theboys,frequency of the competition strategy is significantly lower than girls.
