Although U.S. and Soviet mainly focused on European competition during the early cold war, due to the rapid development of the national liberation movements in the Middle East after the war, coupled with the decline of British forces in the area, the United States began to exert influence in the Middle East instead of English, and in order to prevent the erosion of the Soviet communism. Under this circumstance, in view of Saudi Arabia had an important strategic position and rich in oil resources, therefore, Saudi Arabia became the first choice to U.S. to implementation of the impact in the Middle East.The dissertation bases on declassified documents and previous research, and mainly studies the U.S. propaganda to Saudi Arabia during the Truman and Eisenhower administration from the perspective of propaganda warfare, and to promulgate the covert and diversity of American cold war policy making.The text includes three parts as follow:Part One mainly narrates because of the Saudi Arabia has an important strategic position and the needs of the United States and the Soviet for hegemony under the guidance of the containment, which consist the reasons why U.S. carry out a propaganda warfare to Saudi Arabia. Part Two discusses the implementation of American propaganda to Saudi Arabia, which includes American propaganda policies and objectives, American propaganda to Saudi before the Suez Crisis and the close cooperation between U.S. and Saudi. Part Three principally evaluation the propaganda polices of American to Saudi, namely assess of the successes and limitations of the American propaganda polices to Saudi, the unfavorable factors of the Saudi propaganda and the actual significance guidance of this propaganda.Through the U.S. propaganda warfare to Saudi, we can come to the conclusion that the defense of the national interest is the fundamental criterion of the States to develop a foreign policy, even if the two countries have very different religious beliefs and ideology can work together to safeguard its own interests, and the division of the two countries relations only through the ideology difference is unscientific.
