The Communist Party of the Russian Federation is the second largest party in Russian politics. As the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe’s biggest Communist successor party, the CPRJF’s change and transformation is of typical significance. The characteristics and problems of RCPF appearing in the process of transformation is worthy of research and thinking. This paper thinks the transformation of CPRF is deeply influenced by Russian political party system development and the struggle within the division in the praty. In this context, the change and transformation of CPRF has gone through three different periods of time. The strict sense of the early founding of the CPRF is not an independent political party, only exists,as part of the Soviet Communist Party. In short, the early founding of the CPRF is a conservative political party factions; Since the restoration and reconstruction, the CPRF began a comprehensive reform, positioning itself for the election-based political parties within the system, and to draw the theoretical ideas and practical experience of the European Social Democratic Party, showing the trend of the social Democratic Party; After third National People’s Congress, the CPRF comprehensively adjust policies and ideas of their own theory, to create Leninism color election political parties, trying to find a path of their own development and change. The three standard dimensions of examining the successful transformation of Leninist party:Being in power, the largest opposition party and the constant rising power in parliament. Based on these standards and the investigation of the political practice process, we can draw a conclusion that so far the transformation of the Russian Communist Party is by and large successful, which accomplish the change from Leninist Party to electoral party. At the same time, it is undeniable that the transformation of CPRF is far from over. The CPRF occupied the position of the second largest party, but its influence is minimal, showing a tendency to be marginalized. Due to the reason, the three contradictions of guiding ideology, strategic objectives and on the organizing principle of contradiction is the most important factor restricting the development of the CPRF. To resolve conflicts, the CPRF need to rethink the road of change. Like most of the former Soviet Union’s successor party continue to take the modified transformation of the way, or walk the road of breaking changes, such as Eastern Europe, the vast majority of the successor party to go, the CPRF faced with two choices.
