Research On Charitable Donation Status Of CNPC

Since the concept of enterprise social responsibility brought from thetransnational enterprises of western developed countries to China, movements ofenterprise social responsibility have rapidly emerged. At present, most of ourenterprises have got to know the importance of enterprise social responsibility and putgreat emphasis on its construction. With the prosperity of economy in China and therapid growth of state-owned enterprises, both international and domestic society payclose attention to the social responsibility of state-owned enterprises. When facingnatural disasters, some enterprises make donations of impressive volume while someother enterprises receive criticism from the public and media since they are reluctantto donate. Donation of national enterprises has always been in dispute, and that of thecentral enterprises is even much harder to be recognized by the public. As animportant fundamental backbone central enterprise that is related to the developmentof national economy, national welfare and the people’s livelihood, CNPC should,based on the overall situation and looking into the future, fully perform its socialresponsibility while performing its economy and political duty.On the basis of the study on the relevant domestic and overseas theories ofenterprise social responsibility and charitable donation, this paper firstly makes anintroduction to the particularity and situation of charitable donation of the centralenterprises. On the basis of this, it collects and systemizes the data of CNPC’soutbound enterprise charitable donation from2007to2011, adopts comparativeanalytical method and inductive analytical method to study the level and changetrends of CNPC’s enterprise charitable donation from2007to2011and appraises theeffects of enterprises’ charitable donation. According to the analysis, we’ve found thatthe level of CNPC’s charitable donation is fairly high, which mainly coverssupporting the poor, education and disaster relief. CNPC can be honorably called themodel in central enterprises because of its contribution and investment, especially insupporting the poor. And its total amount of charitable donation in the recent5years accounts for above10%of that of the central enterprises. Although CNPC’s totalamount of charitable donation and its proportion in the whole amount of profit isdecreasing, the proportion of its annual amount of donation in the central enterprisesis growing. Secondly, from the analysis of the above situation, we can point out manyproblems that still need improving in the development of CNPC’s enterprisecharitable donation at present. Finally, according to the relevant information of thereal situation and problems of CNPC’s enterprise charitable donation, it proposescorresponding countermeasures to improve the charitable donation of CNPC.The research will provide better understanding of the charitable donation ofstate-owned enterprises to the public. Meanwhile, this research can provide empiricalbasis to establishing charitable donation mechanism to standardize state-ownedenterprises’ charitable donation.
