Knowledge is power. Nowadays, the company’s most valuable asset is knowledge employees. Because the knowledge workers have the features of strong independence and high innovation ability, they are more willingly to accept the challenge and pursuit the realization of personal values. Therefore, knowledge workers’motivation is not simply from the payment, more important is from the intrinsic rewards of the work.Besides the R&D personnel in high-tech enterprises, knowledge workers also refer to accountants, lawyers, consultants and so on. However, research on the motivational factors and incentive system of these kinds of knowledge workers is rare. As a service industry, the law firms in our country are set up not so long ago from state organs. They have the problem of backward management idea and are used to the government management mode. So they also face the problem of brain drain. Therefore the establishment of an effective incentive system and the scientific management of human resources is very important and has some realistic significances.This paper starts from the knowledge staffs conception and characteristic analysis. After the comparison research based on the general theory and incentive of knowledge workers’incentive theory, it summarizes knowledge workers’incentive theory suit for the Chinese law firm. In addition to review and arrange the literature of relevant incentive theory and motivational factors of knowledge workers, this paper use the method of empirical analysis to do some empirical study focuses on the motivation of knowledge workers from the law firm.The writer designs a questionnaire suit for the law firms of our country according to the the theory system on knowledge worker’demand factors. It selects A law firm’s knowledge workers to do the survey research. This empirical research considers not only the current global economic crisis of the external macro environment characteristics, but also the development of maritime, foreign, international business of the internal micro environment characteristics. The investigation and analysis are based on the length of service, age, gender, position and dimensions of the knowledge workers’demands of A law firm. After that it puts forward a set of incentive model suit for the law firm’s knowledge workers. It mainly includes:Adjusting salary incentive contracture by the establishment of quantitative performance appraisal system and improving the welfare; improving the employees’self management skills by giving flexible work time and system; satisfying the knowledge workers’ self improvement and career achievement by the means of inner excitation method; maintaining the law firm’ sustained and healthy development by setting up the characterized company culture environment; improving the management level by the cultivation of efficient management staff.This paper has five chapters:Chapter one is introduction of the the background and significance of this study, the research contents, methods, and the expected innovation points. Chapter two is the summary of the theories mainly about the motivation and studies home and abroad. Chapter three is the investigation and statistical analysis of data on A law firm’s present situation. Chapter four is a specific incentive model suggested according to A law firm’s characteristics. The last chapter is a conclusion of the whole paper.
