After the end of the Cold War, the United States has positioned China as the next globalstrategic competitor because of the rapid development of China. Based on the importantgeo-strategic location of the South China Sea and the complexity of the problem itself theUnited States wants to rely on interfering in the problem to give a full containment of China. The South China Sea policies of the United States show more and more support to the otherSoutheast Asia countries obviously and intend to use the powerful military force to givestrategic deterrence against China In this paper, on the basis of reviewing and summarizingthe change of the South China Sea policy history of the United States a more objectiveanalysis and forecasting of the current status and the development trend is given to curb therise of China will be the core for the United States. How to deal with the negative impact onChina’s national security and unity by the United States’ policy will be quite a strategicchallenges for a long time in the future that we must face. This paper argues that China should first committed to accelerate the development of oureconomic and military forces and develop a long-term planning about the construction of theSouth China Sea on the basis of our comprehensive national strength enhancingcontinuously. At the same time, we should adhere to set good-neighborly friendship with theother Southeast Asian countries, and try to use the peaceful methods principles and policies tosettle the dispute. But also prepare for the worst situation about eliminating externalinterference and resolve the South China Sea in a non-peaceful way. China also can takeadvantage of other global issues to contain the United States to reverse in the South China Seaissue and force it to make concessions in this great game. Despite rapid development of China,we must have a clear understanding of the disparity in strength between our country and theUnited States now. Thus, to set a strategic alliance together with the countries which havestrategic conflict and contradiction with the United States will be an effective way to ease theSouth China Sea predicament caused by the United States.
