Research On Several Issues Of Street Children Assistance Model

The problem of street children is a long-standing social problem all over the word. How to consummate street children assistance model and help them to return home and society have already caused the community’s strong concern.Firstly based on the perspective of social exclusion theory, I analyze the cause reasons of street children through three aspects which are family and poverty, school and education, society factors, according to the straying extent, different types are classified, in this part, based on the interview and literature research methods, I have studied the street children’s street living environment and psychological condition which are prepared for the assistance work. Secondly, I evolve the history of street children assistance after the founding then summarize the progresses. But due to the complexity of the street children assistance, coupled with the mainly relying on the government forces, there are many deficiencies which are low level of children’s participation during assistance, low level of systematization of assistance system, lack of follow-up services to the leaving-care children, lack of the NGOs’ participation during assistance. After analyzing the deficiencies, through studying the foreign street children assistance experience combined with our reality, I put forward some new assistance model. Firstly, I discuss how to establish an efficient street children assistance system and analyze the role of elements in the system. Secondly, I discuss how to do individualized assessment and formulate the assistance plan, then the article describes the basic framework of the street children assistance and the rescue principles. In this part, I discuss how to rescue street children according to the roving cycle including prevention, street outreach, the choice of resettlement etc. In this part, I describe the physiological and psychological characteristic of street children in different stages and according to the results put forward the assistance model including protecting children’s right to participate, concerning the mental health of the children, skills training, social integration, professional of the staff and etc. During the discussion I have introduced some foreign experience and combined it with our assistance work. Finally out of care children are researched, in this part, I discuss the dilemmas they will face when entering to the society and put forward the ways how to help them integrate into mainstream society.
