Maintaining the smooth running and development of the national economy,society,and meeting the public demands is the primary goal and major responsibilitiesof public sector. How to improve the public sector’s performance is a topic worthexploring in depth. In the theoretical studies of organizational performance influencingfactors, job characteristic as a typical representative of the job redesign and its relatedtheories gradually received attention of scholars at home and abroad. Rationalizationdesign in job characteristics, not only help to streamline the organization, clearresponsibilities, optimize process and people post match at the macro level, it can alsomotivate employees’ psychological perception and behavior results, improveorganizational performance effectively.Given this, select the public sector as the study object, on the basis of theoreticaland empirical research, exploring the relationship between job characteristics and jobperformance and their dimensions. And concluded: significant correlation between jobcharacteristics and job performance; part dimensions of job characteristic will positiveinfluence job performance’s dimensions.Selected a financial regulatory agency as example, and analyzed the existingproblems in performance management of the agency, such as management philosophybehind, weakening consciousness of active service, performance evaluation is difficultand inefficient performance, as well as the formation reason. Based on the conclusions,through job redesign, it proposed specific operational measures to improve the agency’sperformance, such as: work analysis, personnel allocation scientifically; Job enrichmentand increase job demands; merging task and reconstruction workflow; emphasizecontribution and embody the value of the work; give the rights of autonomy and enhance the sense of responsibility; improvement the performance evaluation andexpand feedback channel. And suggests improving performance of public sector onupgrade the management idea; deepen the reform of organization; personnel incentives;pay attention to training and improve matching mechanism.
