China’s International Discourse Power:Theory, Situation And Development Strategy

With the end of the Cold War and the era of globalization, the reality of international politics is undergoing new changes; the most prominent changes are reflected in the direct force of the hard power that has been extremely limited. Sovereign states in the international community, then the "powers of defined benefit" approach advocated by the Realists, maintenance and grab the national interest would have been from a wide range of resistance. In this context, the sovereign state is bound to seek new forms of power to safeguard its own national interests; international discourse began to enter the field of view of the countries, especially developing countries. Compared to traditional international political power, international discourse power gets international interests more covert. It can transform a country’s "private interests" packaging "public interest" around the world, in order to obtain the recognition of the international community to reduce the resistance from other countries.At present, China has entered the stage of the rising awareness of international discourse and Academia research on international discourse power very much. This article will study international discourse power theory and the reality of China’s international discourse power problems from the perspective of international politics. In the first part of the article, the author firstly analyzes of (international) discourse power theoretical origin, brief combing" discourse and power relations" from the post-modern theory. And secondly the author explores the nature of international discourse power. Finally the author analyzes the characteristics and the rise of international discourse power era background.In the second part of the article, the author firstly analyzes scholars discussed the status of China’s international discourse power. A more consistent view is that "international discourse power and national power dislocation ". The author support this view, and from China’s international the discourse quality problems, the issue of international spread and international agenda-setting effect of the presence of the three-cause analysis.In the third part of the article, the author combining international discourse power theory and China’s international discourse problems, tries to provide the path and strategy in order to enhance China’s international discourse power. The author thinks that the key is to strengthen China’s international identity, while also actively participate in international affairs and international regime construction.
