Research On New China’s Vocational Education Policies

As an important part of our national education system, vocational education is also importantfor the lifelong education system. Vocational education, which is responsible for creating high-qualityworkers and skilled personnel, promoting employment and poverty eradication, plays an Irreplaceablerole of supporting China’s socialist modernization. However, compared with developedcountries, there’s still a lot work to do in vocational education, and especially, guidance fromvocational education policy is urgently needed for reform and development of vocational education.This paper studies vocational education policy since the founding of China, and analyzesdifferent historical periods of vocational education policy. The conclusion is drawn that policy caninhibit as well as be helpful for the development of vocational education, and vocational educationpolicy must be well improved to comply with the law of China’s economic development. Then, thispaper analyzes the status and difficulties of vocational education policy in our country, suchas inadequate attention, inadequate law enforcement, lacking of teacher training policy, and soon. After this, Germany, Australia, Japan and South Korea’s vocational education policies arediscussed for comparison. A few suggestions are proposed: in order to improve our vocationaleducation policy government must consider a lot while making policy such as, advocacy efforts can’tbe delayed; strengthen the government’s macro control of vocational education and co-ordinatemanagement; increase the government’s financial input to ensure the funding of vocational education,formulate preferential policies to support development of vocational education;create multi-channel recruitment of teachers to achieve a reasonable flow of teachers byimproving teacher training and assessment mechanisms; improve convergence of vocational andgeneral education policy, and finally, build a complete system of vocational education policy.
