Under highly volatile domestic and international concurrent situation,the country of China and Chinese college students have been encountering great opportunities and huge challenges since the beginning of 21st century.Therefore,implementation of the course of The Situation and Policy?the SAP?in colleges plays significant role educating students to have a better understanding of domestic and international concurrent situations and policies,and so as to strengthen their conviction and have better study performance.Since the Education Ministry of People's Republic of China started new curriculum plan,the course of The Situation and Policy?the SAP?has been offered in higher vocational colleges in various teaching forms so as to keep students updated of domestic and international concurrent situations and policies.As one of the core and irreplaceable courses,the SAP plays an important role in fostering students.Even though,many unexpected negative phenomena,like shortage of class hours and attention from administration,boring teaching,capability of teachers?professors?,lack of students'enthusiasm,skipping classes,still exist in the implementation of the course.Started from college students'study performance and the implementation status quo of the course,this research was guided by On Further Strengthening Education of the Course of Situation and Policy by national Propaganda Department and Education Department in 2004,and On Further Strengthening and Improving Ideological Education for Colleges in Current Situation by the State Department in 2017.Also this research was conducted upon the investigation of the cases in Xingtai Medical College?XTMC?,in which the investigation form was composed of 20 questions,including basic information the interviewed,course influence,teaching goal,curriculum contents,teaching methods,evaluation of effects,and correcting improvements.The investigation was conducted among 500 students who are randomly chosen from Grade one and two of the XTMC,and results of the investigation was analyzed statistically.Also,five faculty members who are teaching this course were randomly chosen for interviewing too,and the interview was documented for research too.First of all,an investigation on the implementation status quo of the course was conducted in XTMC upon comprehensive investigation questionnaires that contained students'first-hand experiences.After reviewing statistical analysis and documentation of interviewing,an objective status quo of the implementation of the SAP in XTMC was demonstrated.Via the analysis through the implementation of the course,many negative phenomena,like“high attention by heart,contempt in practice”,low show-up rate,passive and depressed performance in class,and simply negative attitudes towards tests are prevalent.According to the analysis,the above negative phenomena are resulted from the following shortages like:unaccomplished teaching goal of the course,insufficient teaching contents,lack of competence of the faculty and attention from the administration of colleges,simple and woodenly and loose teaching methods.Based upon the above,a series of specific improvement projects,like more attention from the administration of colleges on curriculum effects and students'interests,clear-cut standardization of teaching goal,richness of curriculum contents,improvement of implementation methods and environment,strengthening of competence of the faculty,strictness of testing of the course are proposed to effectively help establish students'growth plan and goals,and to better foster students to improve their comprehensive qualities and abilities so as to be adapted to the demands of the society.
