Deng Xiaoping’s educational thought is one of the important part of Deng Xiaoping’stheory. During the process of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, Deng Xiaopingcombined the practice of reform and development of our country’s educational cause andformed the system of educational thought with Chinese socialist characteristics.It “is theproduct of basic principles of Marxism combined with modern China’s specific practice, isthe inheritance and development of Mao Zedong’s theory, and is the picture of Marxism inChina”. Deng Xiaoping’s educational thought is the guideline of our educational cause’sreform and development.Studying the thought is significant to accelerate the developmentof our educational cause and stimulate the socialist modernization construction of our country.Since the reform and opening-up, our country’s educational cause had gotten many greatachievements and existed many problems at the same time.Therefore, only if we couldmaster the Deng Xiaoping’s educational thought generally, we can unite the theory and thepractice of our socialist educational cause to get inexhaustible force. This paper expounds thebackground and processes of its formation,elaborates its main aspects,study thedevelopments and practices of Deng Xiaoping’s educational thought at the new age andanalyzed the values of the times.This paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter is to introduce the backgroundinformation and the present research fruits and its disadvantages. The second chapter is toanalyze the theoretical principles and historical background of Deng Xiaoping’s educationalthought’s formation. The third chapter is to depart the processes of Deng Xiaoping’seducational thought’s formation into three stages: embryonic stage, forming stage anddeveloping stage. The forth chapter is to summarize the basic principles of the thought:establishing the status of education development priority, persevering in the socialistorientation in education provision, upholding the “three facings”, implementing the policy of“respecting knowledge,respecting talents” and cultivating the" new " people with ideal,morality, knowledge and discipline. The fifth chapter is to study the developments andpractices of Deng Xiaoping’s educational thought at the new age deeply. The sixth chapter isto expound the value of times of Deng Xiaoping’s educational thought.
